Junior Hampshire league

Vs Portsmouth

And we are underway in the Junior Hampshire league 2023/24!!!

An 11- 6 win against Portsmouth was the perfect start to the season.

3 debuts were made today by Maia, Orlaith and Andrei and they made great additions in both defence and attack, it will be exciting to see them develop with more experience.

Picking up from last season 3 of our returning players scored hat tricks so well done to Fin, Christos and George.

22/23 Season recap

It was an outstanding season from the players winning all of our games bar Winchester. Looking at the results defensively we were the best team only conceding 23 goals across our 6 games which is less than half that of Winchester, performances from goalkeeper George Canham and pit defence Christian Mitchell were key to this success. 43 goals scored is another great achievement over the season and our top scorer of the season was Harvey Mitchell.

A highlight of the season was to see the development of players. Younger players gained a lot of confidence with every match, improving both offensively and defensively. It will be great to see the teams progress next season. Players like JJ, Anna, Harvey, Will and Christos have excelled this season and will have opportunities in coming seasons to develop further.

Finally a good luck to our ‘06 players who wont be able to play in the league next season but will continue to develop in senior water polo.

Bournemouth vs Portsmouth

Our final Junior game of the season ended with a triumphant 14-4 win against Portsmouth on May 25th putting us second in the overall standings, only 4 points behind Winchester. The game was a total team effort with the majority of our players scoring goals including goalkeeper George Canham, JJ Dixon, Will Crane, Colby Smith and first goals for Eni Heta and Christos Kotinis.

Defensively the team were great, a lot of swimming back exhausted our players but it made the difference in the end, only conceding 4 goals over an hour of gameplay is a tremendous achievement.

Weymouth tournament

On April 15th the Bournemouth U17s water polo team travelled to Weymouth for a water polo tournament as part of the Hampshire Junior league. The team were very successful with a 6-3 win against Weymouth and a 8-3 win against Reading but were unlucky to lose their friendly game against Baisingstoke 10-5 . Top scorers at the tournament were Christian, Harvey and Fin with a great goalkeeping effort from George
